On September 30, 2024, Florida’s minimum wage will increase from $12.00 per hour to $13.00 per hour. The minimum wage tip credit remains the same, $3.02, and the minimum wage for tipped employees will be $9.98. The increase is pursuant to the Florida constitutional amendment that raises the minimum wage to $15.00 per hour by September 2026.

All Florida employers are required to post the current Minimum Wage Poster in their place of business where an employee can see it. Although the State has not yet issued the new Minimum Wage Poster, it is expected to be published soon.

DecisionHR’s payroll system will automatically update the minimum wage on the first day of each client’s pay period, that includes September 30, 2024. Clients who wish to update the minimum wage rates no earlier than September 30 should inform their payroll specialist in advance. Payroll submissions will need to specify the number of hours to be paid at the rate of $12.00 per hour versus the increased rate of $13.00 per hour. Clients should also ensure that changes to employees’ hourly rates are updated in all applicable employment records and employee management systems such as timeclocks and POS systems.
